Let me introduce myself...
my name is Ann Dawson and I provide:
- professional reviews of your provision that will broaden your vision and will build on the success you've already achieved
- practical help with all things early years born of years of hands-on experience as a teacher and leader
- training for your staff at all levels that is tailored to speak directly to your current needs
- a personal approach that leaves you encouraged and fired up to achieve even more.
I offer a wide range of support services for Early Years including:
- Consultancy that is tailored to your needs at any point
- Provision reviews to enable you to identify potential improvements and growth
- Early years leadership training and mentoring for teachers aspiring to lead Foundation Stage units
- Parental support and mentoring that you can lead yourself from your setting, building parent confidence both in their own skills and your provision

Firm Foundations for Early Years is the home of...
Rainbow Talk is a fun, organised and creative way of encouraging talk. The framework and resources support children as they develop their talk about all kinds of things including their experiences and ideas.
Rainbow Talk is effective with children of all abilities and ages from early years to key stage 2 and beyond, including those with EAL and SEND. Rainbow Talk has proved to be hugely effective with children who are reluctant talkers and inspires boys to write. Rainbow Talk supports children in becoming deeper thinkers and more confident and articulate talkers.
Children very quickly learn the Rainbow Talk process and enjoy using it. Their development is rapid. They are excited about talking and become inspired and eager to record their thoughts and ideas.
The parents love it as well! Through school-based or on-line workshops they find new ways of engaging their children and having fun talking with them. Click on the Rainbow Talk tab to find out more.
